Main cast of My Girl

My Girl is a drama that came out in 2005. Written by the now-famous Hong Sisters (a writing duo consisting of older sister Hong Jung-eun and younger sister Hong Mi-ran), who started with Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang, went on to pen many more hits. Among them includes Fantasy CoupleHong Gil Dong, You’re Beautiful, My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tail Fox, and Best Love. Known for their unique style of humour, they have developed quite a fan following in the last few years, with dramas coming out each year.

My Girl stars Lee Dong-wook (Seol Gong Chan), Lee Da-hae (Joo Yoo-rin), Lee Junki (Seo Jungwoo), and Park Shi-yeon (Kim Sae-hyun). Lee Dong-wook plays the grandson to a CEO of a very prestigious hotel chain, whose parents died two years earlier in a fateful accident. His grandfather is sick, but desires to see his long-lost granddaughter before he dies, in order to relieve his guilt over banishing his daughter years ago for marrying a man he didn’t approve of. His daughter and her husband were killed in an earthquake, and the daughter never found.

Joo Yoo-rin is a plucky girl with a father who keeps running into money problems. Perhaps in order to survive, Yoo-rin has learned how to lie in order to avoid penalties. However, while on the run from loan sharks, she runs into Gong Chan and he hires her temporarily. After many incidents, including her selling tangerines from his family farm, Gong Chan decides to hire her after being told she resembles his dead aunt. Yoo-rin poses as his cousin, and aids Grandfather back to health. However, all the time spent together has made her closer to Gong Chan. What will happen when his ex-girlfriend, tennis star Kim Sae-hyun, returns to Korea after a two-year absence, and when Seo Jungwoo, Gong Chan’s best friend and a playboy, falls for Yoo-rin?

It’s a very cute story with heart-warming performances from Lee Da-hae, who plays a happy-go-lucky character, and Gong Chan and Jungwoo as very desirable men, with money, good looks, and a caring disposition.
